At Luverne Taekwondo, our goal is to build strong minds just as much as strong bodies. Every class we teach is rooted in the Five Core Pillars of Traditional Taekwondo.
🔴 Courtesy (Ye Ui) — Respect for All. We teach students to show kindness, humility, and good manners to their instructors, peers, parents, and community.
🔴 Integrity (Yeom Chi) — Honesty in Action. Knowing right from wrong and having the courage to stand by your principles and lead with accountability.
🔴 Perseverance (In Nae) — Never Give Up. Developing the mental toughness to push through adversity, whether mastering a tough form or facing challenges in school.
🔴 Self-Control (Geuk Gi) — Mastery of Self. Staying calm, focused, and disciplined under pressure, maintaining control over both actions and emotions.
🔴 Indomitable Spirit (Baekjulboolgool) — Unshakable Courage. Having the inner bravery to stand up for what is right and refuse to let fear or failure define you.
Luverne Taekwondo is deeply rooted in the martial arts revolution brought to the Midwest by the legendary Grand Master Yong Chin Pak. As a pioneer of American Taekwondo, Grand Master Pak dedicated over 40 years to Iowa State University, establishing one of the most respected collegiate martial arts programs in the world and coaching the U.S. National Collegiate Taekwondo Team.
Our local head instructors trained directly under this prestigious lineage. When you step onto our mats, you are becoming a part of the global Pak Family legacy—built on authentic technique, traditional respect, and lifelong community.
We know walking into a martial arts school can feel intimidating. That’s why we designed Luverne Taekwondo to be a supportive, ego-free environment.
No experience? None required. We take things one step at a time.
What to wear? Just throw on comfortable athletic clothes for your first day.
Is it safe? Absolutely. All classes are safely structured and supervised by certified black belt instructors.
“We were so nervous walking in, but the instructors at Luverne TKD made my daughter feel like part of the family from day one. Best decision we ever made for her confidence! Thank you Master Grieme!”> — Sarah M., Sioux Falls Parent
